What is BSD?
Blind Spot Detection (BSD) is a system that warns the driver of vehicles or objects in the blind spots of the rear and side mirrors. It uses radar or camera sensors to detect the presence of other vehicles or objects in the adjacent lanes and alerts the driver with a visual or audible signal. Some systems can also intervene by braking or steering if the driver attempts to change lanes when there is a vehicle in the blind spot.
The Function of Automotive BSD
1. Improve vehicle safety
Although the car BSD system is just a small device, it plays a very important role in improving the overall safety of the vehicle, especially when changing lanes at high speeds or on urban roads where there are many vehicles that are prone to unexpected situations, it can often play a role in avoiding accidents and increasing driving safety.
2. Reduce the uncertainty of judgment
If there is no BSD blind spot monitoring system, then drivers can only judge the situation of the blind spot road behind them based on their own feelings, which has great uncertainty. A slight lack of attention may lead to serious traffic accidents.
3. Joining lines to reduce danger
Whether you are an experienced driver or a newly certified novice driver, you cannot avoid blind spots during the process of merging, and many people tend to focus more on the rearview mirror when merging, which often creates unpredictable safety hazards. If there is a BSD system, radar sensors will monitor the condition of vehicles or pedestrians within the driver's blind spot. Once a vehicle or person is detected approaching, they will issue instructions to remind the driver to pay attention to safety and reduce safety hazards caused by arbitrary lane changes.
